Group Effort: Collaboration as Process and Form | 2008 Wight Biennial

Featuring co-authored objects, public interventions and art collectives, Group Effort explores collaborative practices in the global art school. Fostering community and debate in a transnational context, the biennial addresses contemporary forms of collaboration in visual art schools with 18 projects by more than 30 artists.

Curatorial Committee: Jennifer Gradecki (Chair), Matthias Merkel Hess, Alexandro Segade, Wu Ingrid Tsang.

About the Wight Biennial: Founded in 1997 by professor and artist Mary Kelly, then chair of the UCLA Department of Art, the Wight Biennial is curated and produced by a committee of graduate students in the art department, often in collaboration with students from other departments. The objective of the show is to exhibit this specific group of emerging artists as well as foster an investigative exchange between graduate programs at UCLA and other institutions.
